These are the main ten reasons why I want to go to Cuba.
1. Because Cuba is nice! It is more than nice, it is … supercubafragilisticexpialidocious !
Some may go for the colonial towns, others for the paradisiac beaches, some for the cigars, others for the history and the politics, the fact is that Cuban idiosyncrasies are simply impossible to match anywhere else in the world! From Santiago to Havana, from Baracao to Varadero and from Sierra Maestra to the Viñales Valley, the spectrum of offerings really is stunning.
2. Because I like Cubans !!
It can seem a stereotype to say that all Cubans smile and are happy, and yet Cubans tend indeed to be some of the most joyful and welcoming people. Traveling to Cuba is therefore a good opportunity to meet many locals, since homestay accommodation is a well-known option across the island.
3. Because Cuba is hot!!!
It may be the weather what makes its inhabitants happy, I don’t know. What it is a fact is that the island enjoys a genuinely generous climate year round, and the benefits are palpable even in a very active and healthy elderly population!!!
4. Because I want to dance !!!!
Rumba, salsa, son, chachachá … so many rithyms, so much rithym. Cuba has a well-known vibrant music scene and there are so many extraordinary dancers of all ages that it is difficult even for dance-skeptics not to go with the flow.
5. Because I want to see its arts !!!!!
The Cuban music is in itself an art which complements perfectly the beautiful Art Deco and colourful architecture, as well as the many art galleries openly available to explore contemporary art in many towns through the island.
6. Because I want to scuba !!!!!!
Cuba offers world class diving in many locations around the island. Particularly attractive is María La Gorda (Mary the fat one), a laidback town with crystal-clear waters filled with outstanding sea life.
7. Because I want to smoke a cigar !!!!!!!
And I am a non-smoker! But this is a once in a lifetime experience, and I mean an amazing experience in whole that starts by visiting a tobacco plantation such as the ones in the Viñales Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, smell the leaves and see how the best cigars in the world are carefully handcrafted and beautifully packed.
8. Because I want to learn more about it !!!!!!!!
No matter how much you have read about Cuba and about its people, about its general history or about its leader’s oratory, there is no other way to truly know and understand Cuba but to visit it. And no one will deny that this is a unique moment to go to Cuba.
9. Because I want to cheers !!!!!!!!!
With Cuban rum, for Cuba, for its rum, for its music, for the good times, for the less good ones, for the friends, for the life, for the victory, for the draw, for the failures, for the day, for the night, for the present and for the future, for the sake of cheering, for the Cubans … and for the whole mankind … chachachá … y Salud !!!!!!!!!!

10. Because … I have never been there !!!!!!!!!!
Well, I have … in my dreams, in my thoughts, in my wishes, but haven’t been physically there yet. Can you believe it? So this is the best opportunity to dance, explore, meet, see and smell the many many places I have thought about so many times. And it is also a perfect occasion for taking thousands of pictures and improve this blog, with free photographs for everyone to use … libres … like Cuba!
